National Coordinators Message

Dr. Samanta Lal Sen, an iconic national figure of Bangladesh who was born on 24 November, 1949 in Sylhet, Bangladesh. He graduated from Chittagong Medical College in 1973. He did his post graduation in Plastic Surgery in 1980 from Vienna, Austria.

Just after Liberation in 1971 Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman initiated the 1st Burn and Plastic Surgery in Suhrawardy Hospital. Dr. Sen was one of the Plastic Surgeon who was a young doctor in that Ist Unit.

Subsequently he has dedicated himself for the burn victims of Bangladesh & under his leadership the Ist independent burn Unit was developed in Dhaka medical college hospital.

Since then he has committed himself to developing Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute which is the largest burn hospital in the world by the direct empowerment from Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

During his career he developed Acid Survivors Foundation for Acid Burn Victim. He is also the pioneer in introducing the Rural Health Camps for Cleft lip and palate.

He is the 1st Founder Project Director of Burn Unit in Bangladesh. He continuously served as the president of society of plastic surgeons of Bangladesh in two consecutive terms.

Dr. Sen is currently working as National Coordinator for Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute and for all Burn Unit of Bangladesh. Under his direct guidance 100 bedded Burn and Plastic Surgery Units of Chittagong, Sylhet, Barisal, Rangpur & at Faridpur are under process.
